Chocolate-date bites

So if you haven’t yet tried to make date balls, you really, really should! They are so easy to put together and makes for a healthy sweet treat without all the sugar or artificial crap. My kids love them too and sometimes use these as a Friday night snack instead of store bought candy. They last a long time too when stored in a jar in the fridge!

Ingredients: (makes about 25 balls)

15 pitted dates

1/2 deciliter / 1/4 cup of water

3 large tbsp of unsweetened cocoa

1 tbsp almond butter

150 grams / 1 1/2 cup of almond flour

1/4 tsp salt

Topping: Chopped almonds

Directions:

Add the dates to your food processer together with the water. Blend until smooth. Then add the rest of the ingredients a little at a time. Make sure the mixture isn’t too wet and sticky as that will make it difficult to shape the balls. Just add a little extra almond flour if needed.

Roll the date balls in chopped almonds and place on a tray with parchment paper.

Then stick it in the fridge for a few hours or in the freezer for 45 minutes. The date balls are then ready to eat or store in a jar.

Tip: If you don’t have any almond flour, simply put 150 grams of almonds in a food processer and blend finely. And voilá, you’ve got almond flour!
