This treat will satisfy even the hardest chocolate craving! It’s rich, it’s creamy and very filling. People are often surprised that the main ingredient is avocado because it tastes nothing like avocado. Avocado gives the mousse it’s creamy texture, and it contains healthy fats which leaves you feeling full and happy!
Avocado really is a superfood, in the sense that it can be turned into so many things! I love raw avocado as a snack, sprinkled with a bit of salt, I use it in smoothies, mousse, baking, as topping on bread, guacemole etc. Anything really.
I served this chocolate mousse as dessert for my family tonight and they all loved it! I didn’t tell my husband about the avocado (he’s not usually a fan for reasons I don’t understand) until after he was done eating it. And he would have never known! A great way really to sneak this nutritious fruit into your kids’ (or spouse’s..) diets.
Ingredients: (makes 4 servings)
2 ripe avocados
2-3 tbsp of unsweetened cocoa powder (use raw if you like)
4 pitted dates
2 tbsp coconut oil
1 – 1 1/2 deciliters / 1/2 – 3/4 cup of almond milk
Pinch of salt
1/2 tsp vanilla bean powder
Add everything to a blender and blend till smooth. And voilá! Done! Put in small bowls or glasses and top with berries, fruits or your favorite toppings.
Tip: This mousse is also perfect as a clean frosting for cake or as a topping for pancakes etc.
