Raw hazelnut-chocolate bliss balls

I just never get tired of these! Bliss balls can be varied in endless ways with whatever ingredients you like or have at hand. I generally make a large batch each time, so that the kids can get a treat in the lunch box or when they get back from day care in the afternoon.

In this recipe I use raw cacao for extra nutrition, but you can of course use regular cocoa powder instead if you prefer. Raw cacao,¬†however, is processed less than cocoa powder and therefore it contains more antioxidants, magnesium, fiber etc. It’s a socalled superfood. And why not try to get as many nutrients out of the food you eat by including some superfoods in your diet?

No matter which option you choose, you can eat these or feed them to your kids with a clean conscience!

Ingredients:

1 box of dates, pitted

1/2 cup / 1 deciliter of water

80 grams of hazelnuts

1/2 cup / 1 deciliter of coconut flour

3 tbsp raw cacao

1/2 tsp vanilla bean powder

30 grams of dark chocolate (I used 70%)

Directions:

Start by blending the hazelnuts to flour. Transfer to a seperate bowl. Then blend the dates with the water until smooth, add the rest of the ingredients and blend again until everything is mixed well. Shape into balls that you sprinkle with your favorite topping. I used dried raspberry powder and shredded coconut.
